56 | South East Asia

This trip has taken me through 3 countries in 4 weeks on a whistle stop tour of South East Asia. It has been exhausting and exhilarating. I can honestly say that I have had a great time and Kristen has been fantastic company and super organised with all our hotel and tour bookings. Travelling is a real privilege and allows you to be a small part of someone else’s story in life. The people that we have met along the way have been welcoming, respectful and willing to help you without expecting anything in return.

We have ventured around the busy and vibrant city streets of Bangkok, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh and Phnom Penh as well as visiting World Heritage sites such as Angkor Wat and Ha Long Bay. South East Asia has a lot to offer and you will not run out of things to see or do. Visiting between January and the end of February in the dry season allowed us to enjoy the best of the weather conditions in the region.

Your currency (Pound, Dollar, Euro) will still go a long way in Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia with genuine value for money on places to stay, eat and tour around. I have eaten some of the best food in my life for the cost of less than £10.

My favourite places on the trip were Chiang Mai and Hoi An. Both are similar in many ways with them being slightly less busy with stunning scenery and culturally interesting places to visit. The Sunday market in Chiang Mai was memorable with the stalls taking up the entire centre of the old city and walking through the colourful historic streets of Hoi An are fond memories.
