Sleeping under the stars at Spot X Surf Camp near Coffs Harbour in NSW was fantastic.
We slept in a swag which is like a outdoor sleeping bag that is waterproof and has insect lining so you are not sharing your bed with the spiders, snakes and cockroaches... phew!
After surfing the day before, we hit the river further up the coast and went kayaking. Admittedly this was my first time so I had no idea how it would go. The swell in the river made it pretty challenging at times to paddle against but I still found it really fun despite my arms burning near the end. I was at the front of the three man kayak to start off with setting the tempo but unfortunately Dick didn't quite grasp that fact and started paddling off stroke which led to us zigzagging all the way up the dam river.

In the evening we had a log bbq and plenty of beers while toasting marshmallows on the fire, note to self - do not hold for any longer than 20 seconds (half ended up in the fire). Dick decided to try some night shots on his camera he brought with him, so we ended up spending an hour experimenting with long exposure shots next to the campfire. The end results were pretty good surprisingly. We tried making halos with a flash light to add an extra effect. You might be able to make out Liam and his faint shadow in the shot with the fire roaring in the background.
