A Stones throw away from Perth on the train, the town has a large port area which can be explored and enjoyed. The buildings in the center have a period look to them and everything is very neat and tidy. We walked from the station along the beachfront to the quay area where we sat on the sea defense blocks and looked across the port. The water was pretty clear and deep which would have made for perfect snorkeling but also good for sharks. The Fremantle and Cottesloe beach area have one of the highest attack cases in WA. Deterred from going in we just decided to walk along the south beach and enjoy the midday sun.

Kailis Fish Market is a MUST visit if you like fish and chips. They have a wide variety of fish but normally use Barramundi for the F&C option. We went on a week day and it was completely full for lunch. Its popularity is definitely a sign of its quality. BEWARE of the seagulls as they are not shy when swooping down to the table to steal a few chips or a corner of your fish. The boats docked next to the Market are on many postcards for the area and make a nice view whilst tucking into food. We did not have time to visit Fremantle Prison on our day trip however I have been told it is worth seeing.
